According to information coming from Jefferies & Co.. 'S, Peter Misek, the company will start licensing BlackBerry software for third-party vendors, including Samsung and HTC. He further argues that the appointment of Barbara Stymiest as a replacement for Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie is a step in the right because it is one of the top executives in Canada.
According to Misek, RIM has set up a plan that likely will see the software licensed to other top vendors. This step will help create a 'critical mass' to sustain the ecosystem as well as RIM revenues from monthly service even more likely to put pressure on RIM's hardware business for the short term.
Unfortunately there is no clear description of how Samsung and HTC will use the latest software from the RIM Blackberry platform or components of what will be licensed. Will Misek predicted this really happened and how it forms approximately 10 Blackberry handsets are manufactured Samsung or HTC? [ligaponsel.com]
